16e anniversaire de l'enlèvement d'Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh

À l'occasion de la date anniversaire qui a vu la disparition de  Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh  les organisateurs de Prix Ibni rappellent quelques faits importants et font un appel aux dons.

1) Pétition. Il y a 16 ans, le 3 février 2008, Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh a été enlevé à son domicile à N’Djamena par des forces armées. Il est presque certainement mort dans les jours suivants. La pétition « Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh » a réuni 3535 signataires (https://www.idpoisson.fr/petition-ibni/). Nous ne pouvons oublier, nous voulons connaitre les circonstances de sa mort, et que justice soit faite.

2) Prix Ibni. Le Prix Ibni est devenu un prix de thèse, décerné à deux lauréats ou lauréates tous les deux ans (https://www.idpoisson.fr/prix-ibni-description/). Le site web du prix est désormais hébergé par l'Institut Denis Poisson (https://www.idpoisson.fr/) que nous remercions. Les derniers Prix Ibni ont été décernés en 2022 à Ousmane Koutou et Winnie Ossete (https://www.idpoisson.fr/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/prix-Ibnifrancais2022.pdf). L’appel à candidatures avait rencontré un vif succès : plus de 20 candidatures et des dossiers de qualité; c’est un signe encourageant qui montre que ce prix s’ancre peu à peu dans le paysage des mathématiques en Afrique. Le prochain prix sera attribué cette année; le jury a récolté à nouveau plusieurs candidatures.

3) Souscription. Le financement du Prix Ibni pour les années à venir est toujours en grande fragilité. Vos dons sont précieux, restons mobilisés. Nous n’oublions pas Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh et nous continuons à demander la vérité à son sujet au président du Conseil national de transition, Haroun Kabadi, et au président français, Emmanuel Macron. Nous partagerons en cet anniversaire la douleur de la famille d’Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh et leur exigence de vérité."

We cannot forget this, we want to know the circumstances of his death, we want justice to be done.

2) Ibni Prize. The Ibni Prize became a thesis prize and is awarded to two persons every second year (https://www.idpoisson.fr/en/prix-ibni-description/). We are grateful to the Institute Denis Poisson (https://www.idpoisson.fr/) for hosting the website of the prize. The last Ibni Prizes was awarded in 2022 to Ousmane Koutou and Winnie Ossete (https://www.idpoisson.fr/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/prix-Ibnifrancais2022.pdf). The call was successful with more than 20 applicants and quality nominations; it is encouraging and shows that the Ibni Prize is becoming recognized in the African mathematical community. The next Ibni Prize will be awarded this year; the jury has received again several applications.
