We consider the problem of proving the existence of and estimating the location of scattering poles for a of trapping obstacles known as Helmholtz resonators with both Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions. We treat the case when the diameter of the tube linking the cavity to the exterior is made small and the high energy behavior of resonances when the tube diameter is fixed. The latter case gives an example of the Lax-Phillips conjecture.
