The formulation and solution of the equivariant Yamabe problem are presented in this study. As a result, every compact Riemannian manifold distinct from the sphere posseses a conformal metric of constant scalar curvature which is also invariant under the action of the whole conformal group. This answers an old question of Lichnerowicz.
